Yesterday was the last day we got to spend with our son in Stuart, FL. My husband and I are now empty-nesters and semi-retired so we have the freedom and flexibility to travel on our boat a little bit more than before when he was living aboard and in school. Our son will stay in Stuart to attend college and start Police Academy in January, 2026.

While we don’t necessarily make “plans” as we sail…we do have a vague idea of what we’d like to do. That idea is to travel as far north as possible along the East Coast of the United States until we get too cold. You see, this is WAY too late to be heading north, as fall is starting and we’re going to be battling more and more winter winds, predominantly from the north, with a few major nor’easters.
Today, we cast off the lines and waved good-bye to our “home” for the past two years, Four Fish Marina in Jensen Beach. It was a wonderful place to be able to tie up and we are happy with our time there. They have some major improvements happening so it will be fun to come back and see the progress. We plan on still making Stuart, Florida our “home base” as we will get to see our son more often while there!

Our first stop is Fort Pierce as we need to repaint the bottom of our boat for optimal travel up the East Coast. The process should take just a few days over the Labor Day weekend, barring any other issues we might find while hauled out!
